About

A commercial refrigeration services company, built by operators who came up with the customer.

Setpoint Industries is a commercial refrigeration services company in development. We operate the way good service businesses have always operated, with respect for the work, the customer, and the team that does it. Two decades inside the grocery and convenience channels these companies serve, on the supplier side of the bill.

A point of view

Refrigeration is a service business.

The most profitable refrigeration companies aren't the ones with the slickest CRMs. They're the ones whose techs pick up on the second ring. The ones whose store managers know the dispatcher by first name. The ones who've held a regional grocery account for twenty-five years because they showed up early, every time. The work is the relationship. The relationship is the work.

The temptation in this industry is to financialize that. Optimize the route, squeeze the margin, automate the dispatch, exit in three years. We have no interest in that approach. The companies worth owning are the ones that have built something durable. The job of a good acquirer is to keep what works working.

Leadership & advisory team

The people behind Setpoint.

Setpoint is led by operators with deep experience in the channels commercial refrigeration serves, backed by an advisory team of senior people who have built and run service organizations across HVAC, refrigeration, cold storage, and distribution. These are the names that tell an owner the next chapter is in good hands.

Victor
Partner

At Setpoint, Victor supports the people side of growth: leadership development, team design, culture, succession planning, and the operating rhythms that help technical service businesses scale with clarity and care. He works with owners as they define their next role, supports emerging leaders as they step into greater responsibility, and helps teams grow without losing the trust, precision, and reliability that customers depend on.

Earlier in his career, Victor founded Experience Institute, was named to Forbes 30 Under 30 in education, and served as a Lecturer in Design at Stanford's School of Engineering.

"The best owners we've worked with built businesses worth protecting. Setpoint exists to be the kind of next chapter those businesses deserve."

Tom
Operating Partner

Texas-based, with twenty years in beverage packaging, distribution, and sales leadership, much of it at Coca-Cola. Carried full P&L responsibility for two distribution facilities and teams of more than 175 employees. Built and led multiple sales organizations along the way, plus two formal sales training programs. His customers were the same grocery and convenience accounts that commercial refrigeration companies serve, which is where the experience translates: knowing what a store manager wants from a service partner, and what it costs them when they do not get it.

"After twenty years on the customer side of grocery and convenience, I know what separates a refrigeration company that keeps the account from one that loses it. That's the standard we hold ourselves to."

How we engage

What a conversation with Setpoint looks like.

Five stages between a first email and a closed transaction. None of them are surprises.

Stage 01

Introduction call

A no-pitch first conversation. We want to understand the business, the customer book, the team, and what you might want next. If there's no fit, we'll say so on this call.

60 minutes

Stage 02

Site visit

We come to you. Walk the office, ride along on a service call if you'd like, meet whoever you want us to meet. Most decisions about fit are made in this visit, not on a spreadsheet.

One to two days, on your schedule

Stage 03

Letter of intent

A written offer at a real number, not a range. Structure, price, closing conditions, and the transition plan. No longer than two pages. Yours to take to whatever advisor you want involved.

Usually two to three weeks after the site visit

Stage 04

Diligence

Quality of earnings, customer concentration review, equipment and fleet assessment, legal. Coordinated to be minimally invasive on your day-to-day. We work to your team's schedule, not the other way around.

Forty-five to ninety days

Stage 05

Close

The day the company changes hands. A binder, a wire, a handshake, and the start of whatever transition you've designed with us. Some owners step out at close. Others stay on for years. Both are fine.

A single day

How we move

Funded, patient, and not in a hurry.

Setpoint has the resources and the ability to transact when the right business and the right owner come along. We're not a search vehicle raising money deal-by-deal, and we're not on a clock counting down. The pace of our diligence will match the pace of your decision.

A long-term partner sits behind Setpoint with operating depth across multiple service industries and more than a decade of experience working alongside founders through transitions. They're the reason we can move with patience. They don't pick the businesses we pursue or the operators we partner with. That's on us, and it always will be.
